surrounded by other mountains like Alang, Kalsubai, Katarabai, Ajoba, Ghanchakkar, also the view of Katra cliffs and backwaters of the Wilson dam from a top is breathtaking.
Ratangad is a source of river Pravara. The trek up to the fort is enjoyable as the route passes through the fields, one has to cross a Pravara River, couple of streams along the way. One has to climb a ladder to Ganesh Darwaja as the rock cut steps were destroyed by Britishers. Once your reach to the fort there are two ways, where the left leads to Rani Mahal and the right to the caves.
One can have a rest before starting the further journey.  There is enough water availability after reaching to the fort. The best sight in this place to watch is the Natural Hole (Nedhe) in the caves which offer great view of mountain and the Bhandardara lake. While Climbing down the nedhe to the western end of the fort leads closest to the Khuta pinnacle via triambak Darwaza.Trimbak Darwaja is a marvelous piece of architecture. At the base of this fort at Ratanwadi village, there is the ancient Amruteshwar temple (Shiva temple) which is considered to be over 1000 years old belonging to the Hemadpanthi era.
